Dear Holly: You Loved Singing in the Kindergarten Presentation!

6 years old.

Dear Holly,

It’s funny to think about, but because of “Covid Culture” still going on for much of your Kindergarten year, your grade just now had its first and only presentation for all the parents.

Your class dressed up as puppies, as the musical presentation was based on farm animals; called Down on the Farm.

You so proudly sang all the words and did all the months for each song, with such enthusiasm!

I hadn’t realized that I had been hearing you sing all these song for weeks now.

I have a feeling this is only the beginning of your interest in music and theater!

Love,

Daddy

Dear Jack: Still Catchin’ Crawdads on a Saturday Afternoon

11 years, 6 months.

Dear Jack,

As you are now in your final month of Elementary School, I am constantly aware that anytime you do anything that a typical boy would do, it may be the last time you do it- because are you now inching into the Junior High phase.

This past Saturday while Mommy and your sister were out at a birthday party, I offered to do anything you wanted to do.

You chose to go to Harvey Park and catch crawdads.

So with your trusty net and small aquarium, you were able to find quite a few creatures in the couple of hours we spent together.

Other kids in the park were quite impressed!

I am so happy to be in your life.

Love,

Daddy

Dear Holly: A Father’s Letter to His Daughter on Her 6th Birthday

6 years old today!

Dear Holly,

You are so excited about today!

You are finally 6 years old.

We had such a fun birthday party for you at your gymnastics center yesterday.

You love your gymnastics- that is such a big part of who you are right now.

I am so happy to see you at this age. You and I are totally buddies!

Not only do we love to play chess, checkers, and Rummy together…

But you’re also the only person in our house who not only is willing to watch Star Wars movies with me- and actually enjoys it!

Happy Birthday, Holly!

I love you!

Love,

Daddy

Dear Jack: Using Easter Eggs as Baseballs to Swing At

11 years, 6 months.

Dear Jack,

I would say it was perfectly appropriate that as an 11 and a half year-old, you were able to use Easter eggs filled with confetti as baseballs.

While you sister enjoyed stomping the Easter eggs, so they would burst open with confetti, you preferred to have Uncle Andrew pitch them to you; as you used a rake as a baseball bat.

You naturally have always been able to just come up with these adventurous types of ideas. You are creative when it comes to knowing how to have fun!

It was a post Easter egg hunt to remember!

Love,

Daddy

Dear Holly: A Saturday Night Easter Egg Bash

5 years, 11 months.

Dear Holly,

Last Saturday, we celebrated Easter weekend at Nonna and Papa’s house in Alabama.

They had some special “confetti eggs”, which were actual egg shells stuffed with rainbow paper sprinkles inside.

You and your cousin Darla loved getting to stomp and smash your way through them in the driveway.

I’m pretty sure that for Easter 2022, most little kids didn’t end up spending their time making such a big mess.

Instead, most kids made things tidier by picking up eggs in the yard.

As for you, you definitely made a mess… but Nonna didn’t mind.

What a fun Easter weekend!

Love,

Daddy
