Dear Jack: And Now You are into Flying Drones!

12 years, 10 months.

Dear Jack,

For Memorial Day weekend, we spent the time in Alabama. Uncle Al and Aunt Sharon gave you some money, which you promptly used to purchase a drone you had been researching online.

Your immediate self-assigned mission was to see if you could get the drone to lift a small baby doll into the air.

Mission accomplished!

Once you took off all that “baby weight” from the drone, then you really got to test out how far and how fly you could get it going in the air.

I get the feeling you are going to be investing in bigger, more expensive drones in the future; thanks to your fun with this one so far.

Daddy

Dear Jack: Catching Fish Using Your Own Invented Contraptions

12 years, 10 months.

Dear Jack,

This past Saturday morning, you asked me to take you to a nearby creek so you could test out your newest fishing traps you created.

We spent two solid hours there in the water; as the mosquitoes particularly loved my blood test, but not yours.

You tried out your customized net, fishing pole, and special trap you made using a water bottle.

Sure enough, your hard work was worth it. You caught plenty of little fish; as well as crawfish.

You enjoyed it so much, you are now working on newer, improved versions of your fishing traps.

Dear Jack: Showing Off the Car You and Papa Built at the Cruise In

12 years, 10 months.

Dear Jack,

May be an image of 1 person, tractor and text

This past Saturday was a big day and a big deal.

You finally were able to show off your new creation that you built with Papa over the summer.

There was a “cruise in”, which is basically like a car show but there are no official awards or prizes.

Your car was parked right in front on Papa’s 1963 Ford Falcon and his 1980 MGB. I couldn’t help but notice that just as many people stopped to look at your car, and even get their picture made with it, as they did Papa’s cars.

Little did they know, your car was actually rebuilt from a lawnmower, but drives a lot faster than one!

Dear Holly: When Daddy Wears His New Short Shorts to Walk You to School

7 years, 4 months.

Dear Holly,

Even a couple of weeks into the new school year, your bus still hasn’t got the timing right in order to pick you up for school on time.

Therefore, I have had to walk you to school; which is actually quicker than driving you, since we can basically see your school from our backyard.

We just walk alongside the cornfield behind our house to the main sidewalk that leads right to your school.

You told me, “Daddy, your new shorts are too short. It’s embarrassing when you wear those!”

I suppose it doesn’t help the situation than I wear your pink backpack for you as well.

Yet still, it’s sure better than waiting for the bus and then being late for school.

Love,

Daddy

Dear Holly: You’re Ready to Go Back to School Now

7 years, 3 months.

Dear Holly,

I asked you just now, “Are you excited to start 2nd grade tomorrow?”

You confirmed: “Yes, because this summer… has been kind of boring.”

Forget about the trip to California we took last month, I guess.

I’ll take that as you implying you had a nice, relaxing summer; so now you are ready to be challenged again.

We met your teacher yesterday and she was so excited to welcome you to her class.

She let you pick any desk you wanted in her classrooom. You chose the one closest to the teacher’s.

I made it official as I confirmed to your teacher: “Looks like Holly is going to be your teacher’s pet this year!”

Love,

Daddy
