This past weekend we hosted my 40th birthday party in Alabama at Nonna and Papa’s house. Amazingly, your friend Landon and his family drove there too; though they live in the neighborhood next to ours in Tennessee!
I know it was a lot of fun to be able to hang out with one of your best friends… in a different state, 3 hours away!
Papa and I set up a “BB Gun Range” for you and your friends to shoot aluminum cans at in the woods behind the house.
You guys thought it was hilarious when Landon shot a BB and it got stuck right there in the middle of an acorn.
And having an April birthday, I was so grateful it only rained that morning, and stopped an hour before the party began.
Otherwise, we couldn’t have opened the BB gun range!

Springtime means more daylight when you get home from school. So we have been taking advantage of this by doing target practice with your BB gun in our background.
You carefully designed a target out of poster board for us to shoot. And I have been lining up empty seltzer water cans on the fence post.
Another way you’ve been getting practice is with the new wildlife hunting game you’ve been playing on your laptop.
Mommy and I even asked you this week if you think you would eventually be interested in learning to hunt. You are pretty curious to the idea, actually.
A bit ironic for our vegetarian son to consider hunting animals!

No doubt, you had quite a big Christmas. But you also had some money in gift cards that was burning a hole in your pocket; thanks to the idea you came up with…
To get a Red Ryder BB gun!
Our backyard has been converted into a shooting range. We have spent a good amount of time now, having shooting contests to see who has the most accurate shot.
I’m decent… but you are really good!
And on top of that, you take gun safety very seriously.
It is a fun activity we both really enjoy doing together.
