Our Trip to the California Automobile Museum in Sacramento

12 years, 9 months.

Dear Jack,

It’s getting to the point now, that when I write my weekly letter to you and it doesn’t have something to do with cars, it’s the exception to the rule!

On our family’s recent visit to Sacramento, we made sure to stop by the California Automobile Museum.

Needless to say, it was the equivalent of when you were younger, taking you to a toy store.

You are a 12 year-old boy who is fascinated with cars to the same level of hysteria as old men at car shows. And yes, you do attend car shows for fun now.

Now Mommy and I are curious what your first car will be…

Daddy

Dear Jack: Spending a Saturday Morning at a Car Show

12 years, 7 months.

Dear Jack,

It just so happens that an assisted living facility near us hosts a monthly car show in their parking lot.

So this past Saturday, for the first time together as a family, we attended a car show.

You have always been into cars. I remember back when you were 17 months old, I documentated when we bought you your first Hot Wheels car:

“You want that car, Jack? That’s a cool-looking one.” I looked at the “roll back” price of 88 cents. “Yeah son, we’ll get you that car.”

Now, eleven years later, you are spending your hard-earned dog-watching money on model cars, remote control cars, and still… Hot Wheels.

Something tells me you are never going to outgrow your love of cars!

Daddy

Dear Jack: Go-Kart Racing Never Gets Old!

12 years, 4 months.

Dear Jack,

During your Spring Break, Uncle Tom and Aunt Jenny came to visit us from Florida. Despite the week before being nice and sunny out, it turned out to be one of the ugliest weeks of weather during their time here.

Fortunately, Mommy found a place to race go-karts about 30 minutes away from where we live. We never knew it was there this entire time.

All six of us got to race at the same time- and there happened to be no one else there besides us at the time!

It was such a close race, too. Such a constant back and forth between you, me, and Uncle Tom, but you ended up winning, just in time!

Love,

Daddy

Dear Jack: You are Now Spending Your Own Money on Car Cases

12 years, 2 months.

Dear Jack,

This time around with collecting Hot Wheels, you are only buying “real” cars; not the silly made-up ones. It’s basically like you are becoming Jay Leno, with his warehouses full of collectible vehicles.

You do your research online, and then scout the nearby stores for the ones that might carry the particular make and model you are looking for. Or you will actually by the Hot Wheels car online when you have to.

Not only are you spending your own money on buying the cars for your collection, but you are now also buying the collector’s cases to store them in as well.

It makes me wonder which actual car you will ended up driving here in a few years!

Daddy

Dear Holly: You’re Still Playing With Your Roblox Toys From Christmas

5 years, 9 months.

Dear Holly,

Near two months after Christmas, it’s interesting to see which toys are still getting the most play time on a weekly prize. I would have to give that prize to your Roblox toys.

If it weren’t for your brother, I’m confident that Roblox toys would never have been on your wish list.

In fact, now that I think of it, I hardly see him play with his Roblox.

Yet, conveniently for you, he lets you drive your Roblox characters around in his Roblox cars.

It’s basically part of your morning routine now, as well as your weekend afternoon activity.

You drive your Roblox characters around on the carpet- as you are in a world of your own!

Love,

Daddy
