Dear Holly: Visiting Cabbage Patch Babyland General Hospital in Cleveland, GA

4 years, 11 months.

Dear Holly,

Last week on our family Spring Break, one of the stops on our tour of northern Georgia was the Cabbage Patch Babyland General Hospital in Cleveland, Georgia.

Mommy and I had visited there back before you or your brother were born, but we had never been since we had kids; as funny as that sounds!

Of course, we couldn’t leave without you adopting a baby from there.

You chose a little one named Ruby.

For the rest of our stay in Georgia, and everyday since then, you have taken very good care of her!

Love,

Daddy

Dear Jack: Building and Testing an Erector Race Car with Papa

10 years, 3 months.

Dear Jack,

Though I was convinced you had already spent the rest of your Christmas money a while back, you surprised me by revealing that you still had a leftover Target gift card.

After careful research there in the toy section, I brought to your attention a $15 race car, made by the brand, Erector.

You decided this was the most exciting way to spend your money, but specifically stated that you wanted to wait to build the car the next time you were with Papa.

And that’s exactly what you did.

Not only did the two of you spend a couple of hours building it, but you also tested it out on cool ramps.

Good thing you have Papa to help you with stuff like that, because I am confident I would be useless in a project so technical!

Daddy

Dear Holly: You Got to Be a Little Dragon with a Green Tail

4 years, 9 months.

Dear Holly,

You love it when your brother invites you to play dress-up using his random superhero accessories and Dollar Store plastic weapons.

He spent much of last week teaching himself to braid yarn; he made you a special green one.

So when it came time for you two to play dress-up last Saturday morning, he placed the green braid on you.

You announced to me, “Daddy, look! I’m a dragon!”

Then you turned around, announcing, “See, here’s my tail!”.

Had we let you go out in public that day dressed in your dragon attire, I’m sure you would have!

Daddy

Dear Jack: Silly Saturday Morning Dress Up

10 years, 2 months.

Dear Jack,

Last Saturday morning while Mommy and I were getting the house cleaned, you helped us out by taking care of your sister.

I gave zero thought to whatever was keeping the two of you entertained upstairs. I was just glad you were able to entertain yourselves and have fun; as kids should on a Saturday morning.

Once the cleaning was complete, you and your sister ceremonially made your way down the stairs for the big reveal.

You were both dressed up as some strange mix of superheroes and warriors; weapons included.

That’s a Saturday morning well spent!

Love,

Daddy

Dear Holly: You Like to Help Put the Groceries Away

4 years, 9 months.

Dear Holly,

We’ve stumbled into a new routine over the past few weeks now on Saturday mornings: I buy groceries right after I go to the gym. Then once I get home and unload the groceries, you immediately start helping organize them so Mommy can put them away.

You also have this habit of when I unload the dryer, you run over and start folding all the towels- that’s your specialty!

It’s always such a sweet surprise whenever you volunteer to help me with household chores, without ever even asking me if you can… of course, you know the answer is always yes.

Love,

Daddy
