Dear Jack: Starting 8th Grade

13 years, 8 months.

Dear Jack,

As I drove you to your first day of 8th grade this week, I reminded you:

Eight grade was one of my favorite years of being in school.

I loved being able to go to the orientation with you and see so many of the people I grew up with, who are A) teachers at the middle school now or B) have kids your age who are at the middle school with you.

Fortunately, you already know some of the boys from church; so you’re not completely “the new kid” who doesn’t no anyone yet.

Not to mention, your cousin Calla is there alongside you, since she is the same age.

And if nothing else, you definitely have the coolest boy perm in the entire 8 grade.

So at least you’ve got that going for you.

Love,

Daddy

Dear Holly: Starting 3rd Grade

8 years, 3 months.

Dear Holly,

As I predicted last week, you lost your other front tooth just in time for 3rd grade. I admit, I felt sad after pulling it for you; as it hit me:

This is the last time I am going to pull one of my kids’ front teeth!

But you definitely have not been sad this week. Instead, you have been so excited to start 3rd grade at your new school in Alabama.

And somehow, don’t ask me how… you and your cousin Darla happened to get into the same classroom.

You are going to love 3rd grade.

Love,

Daddy

I Am Now a Published Author – You Can Now Purchase My New Book, “The Guy’s Guide to the Enneagram – A New Way to Understand and Apply the Enneagram at Work and at Home”

Nearly 20 years ago, I graduated from college with an English degree. As of today, I finally feel like I am officially putting it to use:

As of today, I am now a published author!

You can click this link to buy my new book on Amazon: The Guy’s Guide to the Enneagram – A New Way to Understand and Apply the Enneagram at Work and at Home.

Together with Dr. Ramon Presson, I spent nearly the past two years of my life researching and writing what I believe is the most digestible and entertaining Enneagram book on the market right now.

I go through each of the nine Enneagram types, sharing my interactions with men in my own life who are that number. From there, I include examples from my own life how I myself exhibit behaviors of that particular Enneagram number.

Since I happen to be an Enneagram 9, I am like the collection of all the other types rolled into one; the chameleon of the group.

So my book is part biography, part autobiography, and part self-help.

Fortunately, Dr. Ramon Presson not only guided me through the entire process of getting my first book published, but he also contributed to a handful of chapters as well… which helps me look smarter and more credible, by default!

I now invite you to be one of the first people to read my new book: The Guy’s Guide to the Enneagram – A New Way to Understand and Apply the Enneagram at Work and at Home.

What would really help me out right now is if you would be willing to leave a review on Amazon. That helps create buzz for my book and will make it more visible to the masses.

Thank you for sharing in this with me!

-Nick, Enneagram 9 Wing 8

Dear Jack: Your Favorite Vacation Ever

13 years, 8 months.

Dear Jack,

Turns out, I was right regarding how you would feel about experiencing the Pacific West coast for the first time.

Our first morning there, I took you out on Nye Beach. You were surprised by the chilly, choppy water; which was in obvious contrast to the beaches you have known in Florida.

Like me, you were mesmerized by the dreamy, never-ending ocean; further shrouded in mystery by the dense fog.

You enjoyed discovering the new marine life you have never been exposed to.

The “quicksand” also provided a bit of entertainment for you as well.

As we left Nye Beach that first full day in Nye Beach, you told me, “Daddy, this is the best beach I have ever been to.”

A few days later, as our family had just finished our giant dune buggy tour, you announced, “This is the best vacation we have ever been on!”

I’m so glad you feel about way. I agree.

Love,

Daddy

Dear Holly: You Definitely Weren’t Afraid of the Giant Dune Buggy Ride!

8 years, 3 months.

Dear Holly,

I admit- I definitely had my reservations about you going on the “intense” version of the giant dune buggy tour while we were on our family vacation in Oregon.

By all means, this was not a kids’ ride. Let’s just say that if it were a ride at Disney World, you certainly would not have been tall enough.

The entire time, I held on to you tightly so you wouldn’t be afraid.

But you weren’t.

Once the 30 minute tour was over, you immediately declared, “That was fun!”

To be sure, I asked you, “You really weren’t scared, not even at the beginning?”

You simply laughed off the notion.

Love,

Daddy
