Dear Jack: Putting on Your New Tires and Rims

15 years, 4 months.

Dear Jack,

With your 16th birthday coming up this November, now is the time to get your Mazda Miata ready for the road. So you and Papa spent this past Saturday not only cleaning up your car, but also taking off the original tires and rims; replacing them with the new set you bought in Atlanta the weekend before, while we bought our new Jeep.

Oh, yeah… you still need to go take your Driver’s Permit, before you can even get your Driver’s License. That’s on the agenda for next week…

Love,

Daddy

Dear Holly: We’re Gonna Need a Bigger Jeep

9 years, 10 years.

Dear Holly,

Well, your brother is basically the same size as Mommy and me now. As for you, you’re big enough to where you sit in the front seat any chance you get.

So it was time to size up from our 2 door Jeep, to a 4 door Jeep. I think everyone’s favorite part is that the top is an automatic convertible.

This is the right time for our family to enjoy our new toy. Sometimes you just have to choose fun over practical!

Love,

Daddy

Dear Jack: Trading in the Old Jeep

15 years, 3 months.

Dear Jack,

For half of your life, my vehicle has been my 2 door 2010 Jeep Wrangler. But as of this past weekend, the time was right (and probably overdue) for me to trade it in for a newer, 4 door 2022 version instead.

Obviously, our family is so excited and appreciative to move up and upgrade. But I will say, there’s definitely a solid bit of sadness in saying goodbye to the old Jeep.

I wish I wasn’t so emotional about it. But there’s no denying, so many memories are attached to it. So I know it’s normal to feel this way.

Here’s to the new Jeep and to new memories to be made as a family. I mean, seriously… this new Jeep is pretty awesome. There’s just no way around it!

Love,

Daddy

Dear Jack: Woodville High School Wrestling

15 years, 3 months.

Dear Jack,

We had such a fun time together this past Friday with some of my friends, as we watched the wrestling event at Woodville High School. It was the first time you and I went to see wrestling since 2019 back when we lived in Nashville.

The part that stood out most about this time was that the wrestlers brought the action into the stands, right next to where we were sitting.

We definitely got our money’s worth!

Love,

Daddy

Dear Jack: Back to Slime

15 years, 3 months.

Dear Jack,

There’s no way around it. You had just as much fun as your sister and cousin this past Saturday, making slime from Dollar General shaving cream at Nonna and Papa’s house.

The slime has continued to have daily replay value back at our house every day after school.

I love it that playing with homemade slime is an activity both you and you sister can bond over. I wouldn’t have guessed it!

Love,

Daddy
