Dear Holly: You Wore Pink Angel Wings to Church!

5 years, 5 months.

Dear Holly,

You and your brother love any opportunity to go to Dollar Tree. While I was out buying groceries this past weekend, Mommy took you both by there, to let you pick out a cheap toy to entertain yourself with for a few days.

When I saw you back at house, you proudly showed me your new “pink angel” Halloween costume.

You loved the pink wings so much, that you decided to wear them to church the next day.

Understandably so, you received some compliments from your friends on your pink angel wings.

For some reason, you can totally get away with wearing pink angel wings to church.

As for Kindergarten, may not so much.

Love,

Daddy

Dear Jack: You’re Growing Closer to My Size Now

10 years, 10 months.

Dear Jack,

As you’re now nearing your 11th birthday, Mommy and I have been noticing that you are noticeably getting bigger. For example, your new school shoes for 5th grade are a size 6; compared to my size, which is 9.5.

This past weekend when our family visited Walden Farm, as our tradition is to do each Fall, you stood against a height chart that shows you are getting closer to that 5 foot mark.

These days, I offer my old t-shirts to you first before I give them away, so you can use them as “sleep shirts”.

But before too long, you’ll be able to wear them outside of the house!

Love,

Daddy

Dear Jack: You Were an Usher in a Wedding This Weekend

10 years, 10 months.

Dear Jack,

This past weekend was a first for both of us. It was the first time either of us had ever travelled to or spent time in the Midwest.

You were asked to serve as an usher for my friend Kaylie’s wedding near Indianapolis.

She needed some appointed young men to direct guests from the parking lot to the ceremony area behind the barn, where the reception was held.

You did a great job helping people. I am proud of you and I could tell you appreciated being asked to truly help out, in a sort of an adult role; not just a kid’s!

Love,

Daddy

Dear Holly: You are Going to Be the Flower Girl This Weekend!

5 years, 4 months.

Dear Holly,

This has been a long time in the making… that this weekend, after well over a year of planning, you are going to be the flower girl in our friend’s wedding!

I heard that Mommy is going to accommodate you as you get your hair professionally styled for the event. It’s going to be a big deal!

I will be so proud to be taking pictures of you the whole time. I know that you are going to feel like a real little princess.

Not to mention, this will also be the first wedding you’ve ever gone to that you’ll actually be old enough to remember.

Love,

Daddy

Dear Jack: Your Taekwondo Class’s Picnic

10 years, 10 months.

Dear Jack,

You started taking Taekwondo lessons at the perfect time.

Not only has it been a great way to start something new as your 5th grade year began, but there just happened to be a picnic at the park near us so all the students and their families could enjoy some time together.

And Nonna and Papa just happened to be in town to be able to see how happy you are to be in Taekwondo.

They definitely also appreciated, as did I, being able to enjoy some authentic Korean kimchi at lunch; along with some other Korean dishes.

I am very proud of you for taking Taekwondo- and I know you are too!

Love,

Daddy
