Dear Jack: Arms Race in the Cul-De-Sac!

11 years, 5 months.

Dear Jack,

Spring is here… barely. There are now occasional days where the weather is just warm enough to go outside and play.

This past Sunday afternoon was one of those occasions.

You and your friends were already playing with water balloons in the court, when your sister decided she should go for a Jeep drive.

Naturally, this led to you and your friends hurling water balloons at her as she would purposely drive near you; as if to invite you to do so.

It was very thoughtful of you to lend her your giant water gun to balance out the battle!

Love,

Daddy

Dear Holly: Our 1st Daddy Daughter Dance!

5 years, 11 months.

Dear Holly,

The moment it was announced at our church that they were having a Daddy Daughter Dance, you and Mommy began the search for your dress!

Even aside from how excited you were about the upcoming event, I honestly was just as happy about it.

And now that we went to it last Friday right after your brother’s Taekwondo testing, I can easily say that it was one of the top 10 best moments of my life.

You and I share a very special bond. We loved every single minute of the Daddy Daughter Dance. I am already looking forward to it next year!

Love,

Daddy

Dear Holly: Your Final Month of Being 5 Years Old

5 years, 11 months.

Dear Holly,

Exactly a month from today, you will be turning 6 years old- and you sure are excited about it!

Here recently, you have made a point to tell me certain things you have now outgrown:

“Daddy, I don’t watch Cocomelon anymore on Netflix. That’s for babies! I watch The Thundermans now.”

You are so happy that your birthday month is almost here. You will be celebrating your birthday the entire month of April!

But really, you pretty much already are celebrating your birthday now; as it’s the majority of what you talk about… including your birthday dinner at your favorite Mexican restaurant!

Love,

Daddy

Dear Jack: I’m Watching You Become More Responsible

11 years, 5 months.

Dear Jack,

While I do my best to encourage you to to find ways to be more helpful and independent, I am noticing that you yourself are naturally wanting to become more of a responsible person.

This past week, Mommy bought a big umbrella for our back deck. You insisted that I not open the box once it came to our house from Amazon.

Instead, you wanted to be the one to open it, and unpack it, and to help Grandpa Joe set it up.

And you did!

You were so proud to be the project manager of the event!

Love,

Daddy

Dear Holly: I Think You Have a Bigger Appetite Than Your Brother!

5 years, 10 months.

Dear Holly,

This week when we went to the French restaurant in Blue Ridge, Georgia, you and your brother both ordered the exact same thing:

A giant Nutella crepe.

I could tell by the look on your face when the waiter brought it out to you, that you were determined to eat as much as you could.

You came pretty close to finishing the whole thing.

And I can confirm that you definitely ate more than your brother did; even though you are half his age and easily less than half his size!

You sure weren’t messin’ around!

Love,

Daddy
