Dear Jack: You’re a Fan of the Carolina Panthers

11 years, 1 month.

Dear Jack,

I’d say it’s been a solid year now that you have consistently been a fan of the Carolina Panthers.

You own so much Carolina Panthers gear at this point, it’s hard to catch you on a day you aren’t wearing one of their t-shirts or hoodies. You even have a huge sticker of theirs on your laptop.

Perhaps it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that nearly a quarter of your Christmas gifts had the Carolina Panthers logo on it.

While we were at Disney World for Christmas break, we passed another boy your age, who made a point to tell you, “Nice shirt.”

He was wearing one himself.

You smiled in a way that made it obvious how proud you are to identify with that tribe… even though in our family, we don’t actually watch sports!

Love,

Daddy

Dear Holly: You Rode the Tower of Terror at Disney World!

5 years, 8 months.

Dear Holly,

This Christmas was undeniably a big deal for you: We went to Disney World!

Naturally, I had expectations that you would totally be enthralled by getting to meet the Disney princesses. But that wasn’t really your thing.

What I did not expect was for you to be too interested in the rides, other than the ones for little kids.

Yeah, I was wrong.

Because the only ride you didn’t go on, between Disney World, Epcot Center, and Hollywood Studios, was Space Mountain- and that was only because you were certifiably one inch too short!

In theory, you should have been way too terrified to go on the Terror of Terror.

But not only did you go on it, you really weren’t that scared by it.

You made a great riding partner for me the whole time! Now we know you love to go on rides- even ones that are supposed to be scary!

Love,

Daddy

Dear Jack: Your 1st Christmas Where You Cared Most about Clothes

11 years, 1 month.

Dear Jack,

Throughout the years, you have traditionally been the least impressed when you would get clothes as gifts for Christmas.

But this year, as an 11 year-old boy, things changed.

In fact, you specifically wanted clothes this time.

From a new pair of Nike’s, to some Carolina Panthers jackets, to a novelty t-shirt featuring one of your favorite catch phrases:

“Nope.”

Noticeably, this was your first Christmas with the least amount of toys.

For what it’s worth, we also took you and your sister to Disney World this year… so maybe that helped balance things out.

Love,

Daddy

Dear Holly: Yet Another Look at You as a Teenager!

5 years, 8 months.

Dear Holly,

I feel like anytime a picture is taken of you and your cousin Darla playing together, I can’t help but think the same thing every time:

That is exactly how they are going to act when they are teenagers!

The two of you have always acted this way when you play together, as if speaking your own secret language.

You are constantly pretending to go shopping, while toting purses and cell phones.

The fact that you are both the same age only intensifies the connection the two of you have!

You serve as perfect playmates.

Love,

Daddy

Dear Jack: I Think You Found Your Spirit Animal

11 years, 1 month.

Dear Jack,

There are so many reasons you love to spend time at your Aunt Dana’s house; like you did the week leading up to Christmas, while Mommy and I still had to work.

But one of those reasons is because you get to play with your cousin Calla’s pet cats while you are there; since the only pet we have at our house is our hamster.

Specifically, it seems their cat Cocoa particular likes you; as if the two of you are on the same level.

Perhaps a housecat is your spirit animal. I could see that.

Love,

Daddy
